GM Initiates New Recall Action for Bolt EV
[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] General Motors (GM) is recalling the electric vehicle Bolt EV once again.
On the 23rd (local time), GM announced plans to initiate a new recall for the 2017-2019 Chevrolet Bolt EV models currently undergoing a software recall.
GM explained that, in collaboration with battery manufacturer LG's technical experts, they discovered during an investigation into recent Chevrolet Bolt EV fires in the United States that two rare manufacturing defects coexist in the same battery cell, identifying these as the root cause of the vehicle fires.
With this new recall, GM plans to replace the defective battery modules in the previously recalled vehicles. GM will notify customers sequentially as replacement parts become available, and this will apply equally to all recalled vehicles sold domestically.
