On the 23rd, KB Kookmin Card announced that it signed a business agreement with Jongno-gu regarding the "Carbon Diet Eco-friendly Reusable Cup Usage." The signing ceremony held the day before was attended by KB Kookmin Card President Lee Dong-cheol and Jongno-gu Mayor Kim Young-jong, among others.
This agreement is expected to become a new form of public-private cooperation model for responding to climate change and practicing low-carbon and eco-friendly living. Starting with the formation of an execution group for project promotion in February, the project went through six months of preparation, including discussions on project plans and pilot operations, culminating in this achievement.
Accordingly, Jongno-gu will take on roles such as producing reusable cups and supporting the project, while KB Kookmin Card will carry out internal promotional activities to encourage employees to use and wash the reusable cups.
Through this project, which will run from next month until the end of this year, all beverages sold at the in-house caf? located at KB Kookmin Card headquarters and the "Plus Caf?" located in Jongno-gu Office will be served in eco-friendly reusable cups. The reusable cup, called the 1.5℃ cup, embodies the commitment to keep the global temperature rise within 1.5℃ to overcome the climate crisis.
According to the project, used reusable cups will be collected through return bins installed in each building and will be reused after undergoing high-temperature and high-pressure washing and sterilization at over 110 degrees Celsius by a specialized cleaning company.
A KB Kookmin Card official said, "As a leading card company in ESG management, we plan to actively respond to the climate crisis and continue various sustainable eco-friendly activities and collaborations so that many members of society can participate in practicing low-carbon living."
