Seoul City to Manage Samsung and Bon-eun Reservoir Ground Spaces as Parks
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyemin] The aboveground space of the Samsung and Bongeun Reservoirs in the area of 82 Samsung-dong, Gangnam-gu, will be managed as a park.
On the 21st, Seoul City held the 9th Urban Planning Committee meeting and announced on the 22nd that the plan to change the urban planning facility designation to this effect was approved as originally proposed.
Since the expansion and completion of the Samsung and Bongeun Reservoirs in 2013, a resting area was created in the aboveground space, and it had been used practically like a park. However, due to an increase in visitors and the absence of dedicated management personnel, there had been difficulties in management.

Accordingly, Seoul City added "park" to the type of urban planning facility, which had been only for water supply facilities, allowing an official park to be created on the upper space. Remodeling plans include providing an open space with a view of the Han River, and the final plan will be confirmed after review by the Urban Park Committee.
