Cheonghae Unit, 1 More COVID-19 Case Confirmed, Total Reaches 271
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo In-ho] The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases among the Cheonghae Unit, which returned early due to a cluster infection, has increased to 271 with one additional confirmed case.
According to the Ministry of National Defense on the 22nd, one soldier from the Cheonghae Unit, who tested negative in a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test after arriving on the 20th and was in single isolation, tested positive again after showing symptoms and undergoing another diagnostic test.
As a result, out of the total 301 unit members, 271 (90%) have tested positive for COVID-19. The remaining 30 tested negative.
Since the incubation period of COVID-19 varies from person to person, additional confirmed cases may still emerge.
The Ministry of National Defense reported that among the confirmed cases in the Cheonghae Unit, three mild patients were admitted to civilian hospitals, increasing the number of hospitalized patients to 17.
Four patients, including one severe and two moderate cases, are receiving treatment at the Armed Forces Capital Hospital, while the remaining 10 are hospitalized at the Armed Forces Daejeon Hospital.

Among the remaining 254, 190 are isolated at civilian life treatment centers, 34 at the Defense Language Institute, and the 30 who tested negative are quarantined at the naval facility in Jinhae, Gyeongnam.
