Seoul Segok-dong to Tancheon Connected by 'Pedestrian and Bicycle-Only Bridge' Opening on the 24th
Connecting the Tancheon pedestrian path toward Segok-dong to the opposite walkway with a length of 100m and width of 6.0m
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that it will open a 100m-long, 6.0m-wide 'pedestrian and bicycle-only bridge' directly connecting Segok-dong in Gangnam-gu and Tancheon on the 24th.
According to Seoul City on the 22nd, this bridge directly connects the Tancheon pedestrian path in the direction of Segok-dong to the pedestrian path (riverside) on the opposite side. It is expected to make walking and bicycle movement much easier for residents using the Tancheon riverside trail or commuting between Bokjeong Station and the Segok-dong area.
Until now, crossing Tancheon required a 400m detour using the nearby 'Daewanggyo' bridge, where vehicle lanes and pedestrian zones are mixed. In particular, there are no traffic lights on the road leading from the Tancheon riverside trail to Daewanggyo, forcing pedestrians to jaywalk. Additionally, vehicle speeds on Daewanggyo exceed 60km/h, and the pedestrian path on the bridge is narrow, raising safety concerns.
With the opening of the Tancheon 'pedestrian and bicycle-only bridge,' Seoul City expects to significantly reduce the access distance from Segok-dong to Tancheon from 400m to 150m and prevent dangerous situations such as pedestrian jaywalking.
