[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Yuri] Galleria Department Store's premium food private brand (PB) 'Gourmet 494' announced on the 22nd that it will launch new home meal replacement (HMR) products including meat rice bowl, LA galbi, and Korean beef seaweed soup based on famous restaurant recipes and high-quality ingredients on the 23rd.
'Gourmet 494 Meat Rice Bowl' features the recipe from 'Milbon,' a restaurant introduced in the Michelin Guide Bib Gourmand for two consecutive years (2018, 2019). This product is a convenient meal version of Milbon’s signature dish made by simmering domestic pork, roasted garlic, Cheongyang chili peppers, and other ingredients in a special soy sauce. It uses packaging and film that allow for instant cooking in the microwave, adding convenience. The price is 6,500 KRW for 320g.
'Gourmet 494 LA Galbi' is made from the top 20% 'Top Choice' grade of the 'Choice' grade American Black Angus breed, known for its excellent quality. Among the 13 ribs of the cow, the 6th to 8th ribs, called 'Flower Ribs' for their tender meat, are carefully selected. The seasoning flavor is enhanced by culinary researcher Choi Ju-young, famous as a consultant for over 30 cookbooks and restaurant menus. The price is 25,500 KRW for 500g.
'Gourmet 494 Korean Beef Seaweed Soup' is characterized by its rich flavor, deeply boiled with fresh premium domestic seaweed, tender Korean beef, and savory sesame oil. This product passed the strict taste tests and thorough verification by Galleria’s food and beverage (F&B) buyers. The price is 5,500 KRW for 500g.
Meanwhile, sales of Galleria Gourmet 494 PB grew by 80% in the first half of this year compared to the same period last year. HMR sales surged by 500% year-on-year. The prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, increased demand for HMR, continuous product development aligned with trends, and expanded sales through external channels were analyzed as the main factors for the sales increase.
