Ryu Gyeong-gi, Mayor of Jungnang District (photo), has gained attention for launching a quarantine guideline promotion campaign to protect the safety of district residents from COVID-19.
In response to the recent sharp increase in COVID-19 cases, the district is vigorously promoting strengthened social distancing rules and free testing.
This campaign is actively led by local functional organizations such as the Tongjang Council, Residents’ Autonomy Committees, and Volunteer (Women’s) Crime Prevention Squads. Four teams, each consisting of two members per neighborhood, patrol daily in areas with high resident density such as parks, around stations, and shopping districts, distributing quarantine guideline notices.
The notices were promptly produced by the district alongside the implementation of social distancing level 4, containing easy-to-understand information on major infection cases, the district’s COVID-19 status, strengthened social distancing rules, and restrictions on public facility operations.
Members of the functional organizations visit places with heavy foot traffic such as Sangbong Food Alley and Jungnang Station Road to encourage residents to participate in the campaign, which will continue until August 6.
Additionally, administrative vehicles from 16 neighborhood community centers are used to broadcast announcements throughout residential alleys. The announcements, which include messages such as “Follow daily quarantine rules, refrain from going out and private gatherings, one diagnostic test per household,” are broadcast once a week at 153 local apartment complexes.
