Gwangju Nam-gu Expands Designation of 'Good Price Businesses' Contributing to Price Stability
From 50 to 70 locations... Incentives worth 200,000 KRW provided to designated stores
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Kim Byeongnae) announced on the 21st that it will expand the designation of Good Price Stores, which contribute to price stabilization through dignified service to consumers and affordable prices, from the existing 50 stores to 70 stores.
Stores designated as Good Price Stores will be provided with incentives worth 200,000 KRW.
Applications will be accepted until the 26th. Eligible applicants include 45 types of personal service industries such as dining, beauty salons, bathhouses, laundries, and lodging, while franchise stores are excluded from eligibility.
To apply for designation as a Good Price Store, the store must offer prices below the average price for each item managed by the local district and must not have received any administrative sanctions in the past two years.
Additionally, the store must not have closed temporarily within the past year, must not have overdue local taxes of 1 million KRW or more for three or more times, and must have at least six months of business performance since opening.
Nam-gu plans to first review administrative sanctions, closures, and hygiene model store status for each store after receiving applications, then conduct a second on-site inspection and evaluation, and designate Good Price Stores around October.
Stores designated as Good Price Stores will receive certification plaques, store promotion, volume-based waste bags, water and sewage fees, and other incentives worth 200,000 KRW suitable for their industry.
Evaluation criteria for the on-site inspection include price review, hygiene and cleanliness, quality service level, outdoor price display, and compliance with origin labeling regulations.
In addition, a comprehensive re-evaluation will be conducted for the 50 stores selected as Good Price Stores last year.
This is to maintain service quality and strengthen competitiveness, and if disqualifying factors are found, the designation as a Good Price Store may be canceled.
