9 Additional COVID-19 Cases Confirmed at Tokyo Olympics
Positive Response from Czech Team Officials at the Athletes' Village
Nine additional COVID-19 cases have been confirmed inside and outside the Tokyo Olympic Village. According to the Tokyo Olympic Organizing Committee on the 21st, one of the cases is a team official staying in the Olympic Village related to a Czech beach volleyball player who was already infected with COVID-19. The others include one foreign athlete staying outside the Olympic Village and six Japan residents performing delegated duties for the event. With this, the cumulative number of COVID-19 cases reported by the Tokyo Organizing Committee since July 1st has reached forty-five. Twelve people who had close contact with the Czech team official who tested positive have been identified. They are currently awaiting additional test results in their respective rooms within the Olympic Village.
