President Moon Appoints BTS as Cultural Envoys... Delivering a Message of Hope at the UN General Assembly in September (Comprehensive)
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] President Moon Jae-in has appointed the singer BTS (Bangtan Sonyeondan) as the "Special Presidential Envoy for Future Generations and Culture."
The Blue House announced on the 21st that President Moon appointed BTS as the Special Presidential Envoy for Future Generations and Culture.
This is a strategic move to lead global agendas for future generations such as sustainable growth and to expand diplomatic capabilities befitting South Korea's elevated status in the international community.
The Blue House stated, "The appointment of the special envoy is part of public diplomacy aimed at broadening the diplomatic horizon by consolidating the diplomatic capabilities of the people," adding, "It was promoted to enhance the national image leading global issues through collaboration with private experts who demonstrate outstanding activities on the global stage."
Going forward, BTS will attend major international conferences such as the 75th United Nations General Assembly in September as the "Special Presidential Envoy for Future Generations and Culture," delivering messages of comfort and hope to youth worldwide.
They will also engage in various activities related to the environment, poverty and inequality improvement, and respect for diversity.
