'Natural Materials + Scrap Fabrics + Eco-friendly Packaging = Value Consumption'... Fashion Industry's Eco-friendly Initiatives
Shinsegae International Launches 'Love by Curtisculic'
Aiming for Sustainable Fashion...Targeting MZ Generation
70% of Products Use Natural Materials and Scrap Fabrics
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] The fashion industry is accelerating its eco-friendly initiatives targeting the MZ generation (Millennials + Generation Z).
On the 20th, Shinsegae International exclusively launched 'Love by Curtis Kulick' on its online mall SI Village. 'Love by Curtis Kulick' is a brand collaborated with Curtis Kulick, a young artist from New York, USA. The brand is symbolized by the word 'Love' and a heart logo, both handwritten by Curtis Kulick himself.
More than 70% of the products use natural materials produced through eco-friendly farming methods and leftover fabrics. To reduce plastic usage, all products are packaged in biodegradable plastic that decomposes 100% naturally within 180 days. The brand focuses on 'value consumption,' one of the consumption criteria of the MZ generation. Unlike some products, the brand itself pursues sustainable fashion through eco-friendliness.
This month, the first phase introduced a total of 16 types of casual clothing, among which the Supima cotton material used was produced through eco-friendly farming methods in only a few regions worldwide. The second collection is scheduled to be unveiled on the 23rd of next month.
The fashion industry is undertaking various eco-friendly initiatives to target the value consumption of the MZ generation. Hansome, for example, has introduced and operated a 'Carbon Zero (0) Project' from this year, which processes leftover inventory clothing through upcycling to dispose of them in an eco-friendly way. The 'Carbon Zero (0) Project' features recycling leftover inventory clothing by recycling companies that mold them under high temperature and pressure to create eco-friendly interior finishing materials.
