Seongnam City Supports 90% of Industrial Accident Insurance Premiums for Specially Employed Workers and Others
[Asia Economy (Seongnam) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province is set to support industrial accident insurance premiums for special employment workers and artists.
Seongnam City announced on the 20th that it will accept applications twice (July 19 to August 13, and October 18 to November 12) for 14 types of special employment workers such as delivery drivers and insurance planners who live or work in Seongnam, as well as business owners (with fewer than 10 employees) and local artists.
Applicants must be enrolled in industrial accident insurance. The city will verify this through the Korea Workers' Compensation & Welfare Service and pay 90% of the paid industrial accident insurance premiums.
The city has secured a project budget of 236.5 million KRW, expecting to support about 4,000 people with industrial accident insurance premiums.
Applicants can submit documents such as the industrial accident insurance premium support application form, consent form for collection, use, and provision of personal information to third parties, and a copy of a bank account in their name online through the Seongnam City website.
They can also visit and submit applications at the Employment and Labor Division office on the 7th floor of Seongnam City Hall.

A city official said, "Currently, special employment workers pay industrial accident insurance premiums equally with their business owners under a special system, each bearing 50%. With this support, special employment workers will only need to pay 10% of their own insurance premiums, which is expected to increase industrial accident insurance enrollment."
