Daejeon Raises Social Distancing to Level 3... Gatherings Limited to 4 People Including Immediate Family
[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Daejeon City is raising the social distancing level to Level 3.
On the 19th, the city announced that Level 3 social distancing will be applied and enforced from the 22nd of this month until the 4th of next month.
With the implementation of Level 3 social distancing, local restaurants, cafes, entertainment facilities, singing rooms, and indoor sports facilities will be prohibited from operating from 10 PM to 5 AM the following day. However, restaurants and cafes are allowed to offer takeout and delivery services during this time.
From 10 PM, drinking alcohol outdoors in parks, riversides, and other outdoor areas is also prohibited.
In particular, private gatherings are allowed up to 4 people, including immediate family members. Additionally, attendance at all events such as weddings and funerals is limited to 49 people or fewer. Religious facilities may operate at up to 20% of total seating capacity, and lodging facilities may operate at up to 3/4 of total rooms.
During the Level 3 social distancing period, owners and workers of high-risk facilities such as entertainment and Danranju bars must undergo COVID-19 diagnostic testing once every two weeks.
This measure reflects the recent average daily confirmed cases of 48.9 in the Daejeon area and the fact that nationwide confirmed cases have remained in the 1,000 range for 13 consecutive days since the 6th.
To strengthen compliance at the quarantine sites, the city has organized a special joint inspection team of about 2,000 public officials from five autonomous districts, Daejeon Police Agency, Daejeon Metropolitan Office of Education, and other related organizations to check adherence to quarantine rules.
Furthermore, businesses violating quarantine guidelines will face a 10-day suspension of operations and exclusion from disaster relief funds, with a zero-tolerance policy.
In addition, the city will temporarily suspend the duties of 30 health personnel affiliated with the city hall and deploy them as epidemiological investigators for two weeks to focus on tracing secondary infection sources.
