Yeosu, Cluster Infection Spreads Among People in Their Teens and Twenties
12 Confirmed Cases Aged 10-20: 5 on the 17th, 7 on the 18th
[Yeosu=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Sim Kyung-taek] In Yeosu, Jeollanam-do, after 5 people tested positive on the 17th, 7 people in their teens and twenties tested positive on the 18th, causing a significant increase in COVID-19 cases centered around people in their twenties, raising concerns among quarantine authorities.
According to Yeosu City on the 19th, as of 9 a.m., a total of 280 confirmed cases have been reported, including 254 domestic and 26 overseas cases, with about 60 cases confirmed mainly among people in their teens and twenties since July.
On the 17th, 5 people in their teens and twenties tested positive, and by midnight on the 18th, a total of 7 people (5 in their twenties and 2 in their teens; Jeonnam cases 1804~1805, 1808~1813) were confirmed positive.
Most of these individuals are university students working part-time at pubs located in Hakdong, Yeosu City. Diagnostic tests are being conducted on customers who visited the pubs during their working hours.
Confirmed cases 274~277 were either overlapping in movement paths with case 271, who is presumed to have been infected at the pub, or were part-time workers at the same facility.
Confirmed cases 278~279 were close contacts of existing confirmed cases and tested positive while under self-quarantine.
Confirmed case 280 is a high school student and a family member of confirmed case 268. This individual tested positive during self-quarantine.
