Seoul City "Immediate Notification of Attendance at KCTU Rally, Followed by Tracking, Management, and Testing"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that it plans to track COVID-19 infection status as soon as it receives the list of attendees of the National Workers' Rally held on the 3rd in the Jongno-gu area of Seoul.
On the 19th, Park Yumi, Seoul's quarantine controller, said in an online COVID-19 briefing, "We have requested the list of attendees of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) Seoul rally," adding, "Once the list is finally notified, we will promptly conduct tracking, management, and testing."
The KCTU held the National Workers' Rally on the 3rd in the Jongno-gu area of Seoul, with the organizers estimating about 8,000 attendees. The Seoul Metropolitan Government had notified a ban on the event and blocked the planned rally site due to concerns over COVID-19 spread, but the KCTU changed the location and proceeded with the rally.
So far, three participants of the rally have tested positive for COVID-19, and accordingly, the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency issued an administrative order on the 17th requiring all participants to undergo diagnostic testing.
