Why Did Park Seong-su, Mayor of Songpa-gu, Decide to Keep the Screening Clinic Open Until 9 PM?
Songpa-gu Public Health Center Operates Olympic Park Temporary Screening Clinic Until 9 PM on Weekdays... Provides Convenience with Shade Installation and Queue Number System to Prepare for Heatwave
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Park Seong-su, Mayor of Songpa District Office, is receiving positive evaluations for significantly increasing testing capacity from the 19th in response to the resurgence of COVID-19 in the metropolitan area and for enhancing convenience to prepare for the heatwave.
Currently, the district operates three testing sites for COVID-19.
▲ Songpa District Public Health Center Screening Clinic (29-5 Sincheon-dong) ▲ Olympic Park Peace Gate Plaza Temporary Screening Clinic (Line 8 Mongchontoseong Station Exit 1) ▲ Munjeong Urban Development Zone Plaza Temporary Screening Clinic (around 368 Munjeong-dong).
Among these, the Munjeong Urban Development Zone Plaza was newly opened on the 12th due to the recent increase in spread mainly among young people.
In particular, as the number of confirmed cases has been recording over 1,000 daily, indicating a serious crisis, the district is increasing testing capacity to detect confirmed cases early.
To this end, since July 3, the Songpa District Public Health Center Screening Clinic has been operating extended hours until 9 PM on weekdays and 6 PM on weekends and holidays. As an additional measure, from the 19th, the Olympic Park Peace Gate Plaza Temporary Screening Clinic will extend its hours from 10 AM to 9 PM on weekdays.
The district emphasized that each testing site has different disinfection times and operating hours on weekends and holidays, so it is essential to check before visiting.
Along with this, the district has prepared various conveniences to alleviate discomfort caused by the recent increase in testers and the ongoing heatwave.
To prepare for sudden weather changes such as heatwaves or showers, the district has produced and is lending out ‘Songpa District Temporary Screening Clinic Umbrellas.’ A total of 200 umbrellas have been placed at the two temporary screening clinics.
Additionally, shade tents and large air conditioners have been installed to avoid heat during the registration waiting time, and cooling fans have been installed in the specimen collection booths for the staff.
Especially at the Olympic Park Temporary Screening Clinic, where the number of testers has greatly increased, a queue waiting system will be introduced from the 19th. Testers will be able to receive information on expected waiting times and entry order via their mobile phones, which is expected to help reduce inconvenience caused by long waits.
