[Asia Economy Reporter Seoyoung Kwon] A mother who dramatically rescued her son from an attempted kidnapping in the United States has become a hot topic.
According to the New York Police on the 17th (local time), an attempted child abduction occurred around 8 p.m. on the 15th on a street in Richmond Hill, Queens, New York. The released footage shows a kidnapper getting out of a vehicle, carrying a child walking on the sidewalk, and getting back into the car. The child, a 5-year-old named Jacob, was handed over to an accomplice sitting in the front passenger seat after being abducted.
At the time, Jacob's mother, Dolores Diaz Lopez, was walking a few steps behind her son and could not prevent the sudden abduction. However, as the men got into the car carrying Jacob, his family immediately rushed to the vehicle. Lopez, unable to open the locked car door, reached through the passenger window and pulled her son out.
The vehicle that failed in the kidnapping fled the scene immediately, and Jacob was reported to have no injuries. Lopez explained the situation, saying, "We were on our way to meet the father with the children." She added, "I did not see the kidnappers' faces," and said, "I had to do whatever was necessary. Instinctively, I fought with the kidnappers."
