Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority Launches Campaign to Eradicate Illegal Parking at Gwangyang Port
Activities to Promote Safety Culture for Preventing Traffic Accidents Among Cargo Truck Drivers
[Gwangyang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seonsik] Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority (President Cha Minsik) announced on the 15th that it conducted a campaign to eradicate illegal parking and prevent traffic accidents in the Gwangyang Port area (Port Road, Container Wharf Road, Hinterland Complex Road).
About 50 participants, including President Cha Minsik, executives and employees of the authority, and executives and employees of Yeosu Gwangyang Port Management Co., Ltd., took part in the event held to raise awareness of traffic safety due to road safety negligence within Gwangyang Port and to prevent traffic accidents by eradicating illegal parking.
On the day, the authority attached leaflets to illegally parked cargo trucks and chassis within the port area and installed traffic safety banners in areas with heavy vehicle movement.
Additionally, they supported cargo truck drivers passing through the Gwangyang Port container wharf gate with bottled water and carried out activities to spread a safety culture.
Kim Seonjong, Vice President (Head of Operations Headquarters), said, “We will implement various safety activities, including campaigns, to thoroughly recognize and share the value of safety at Yeosu Gwangyang Port,” adding, “We plan to continuously conduct activities to spread a safety culture targeting port workers and the public.”
Meanwhile, the authority plans to continue the illegal parking eradication campaign to secure safety in the port area, adjust operating hours of operator gates, and conduct an education period requesting transport companies to move to their garages. Afterward, in cooperation with Gwangyang City and the police station, they will produce and distribute an illegal parking enforcement manual, and strongly enforce measures such as fines collection and towing.
