Yeongdeungpo-gu Mayor Chae Hyun-il Delivers Watermelons to Employees Struggling in the Heatwave
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] On the afternoon of the 15th, Yeongdeungpo-gu Mayor Chae Hyun-il visited the Daerim 3-dong Clean Center to meet with employees on duty and delivered refreshments to help them cool down from the heat.
On this day, Mayor Chae inspected the status of the Daerim 3-dong Clean Center and encouraged the employees who were working on street cleaning to lower the temperature of the heated urban area amid the ongoing heatwave.
He then visited an officetel construction site in Yeongdeungpo-dong to carefully check COVID-19 quarantine management and the status of rest areas prepared for the heatwave.
Mayor Chae Hyun-il encouraged the employees working hard on site in the hot weather to respond to the heatwave and urged them to strictly follow quarantine rules, which could easily be neglected due to the heat, while emphasizing the health and safety of the on-site workers.
Mapo-gu Mayor Yoo Dong-gyun Visits Hapjeong Senior Center with Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon
On the afternoon of the 15th, Mapo-gu Mayor Yoo Dong-gyun visited the Hapjeong Senior Center in Mapo-gu together with Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon.
Currently, among the 25 autonomous districts in Seoul, only five districts including Mapo-gu operate senior centers. In Mapo-gu, 145 out of 155 senior centers are operating as cooling shelters for the heatwave. (10 centers are voluntarily closed)
Mapo-gu has made efforts to ensure that the elderly can safely use the senior centers and plans to continue managing them diligently so that they can serve as comfortable shelters for seniors during the heatwave.
Prior to this, Mayor Oh Se-hoon visited the COVID-19 vaccination center at the Mapo-gu Citizens Sports Center with Mayor Yoo Dong-gyun to encourage staff and inspect quarantine measures.
