Showers Until the 16th... Nationwide Heatwave and Tropical Nights Continue
Very Strong Gusts Around 70km/h Expected
[Asia Economy Reporter Gong Byung-sun] Showers will fall in various places until the 16th. Nevertheless, the heatwave is expected to continue, with tropical nights occurring overnight.
The Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) forecasted on the 14th that showers will fall across the country from early morning on the 15th until the night of the 16th. In eastern Gyeonggi, inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon, inland Chungcheong, inland Gyeongbuk, and Gyeongnam regions, showers are expected until early morning on the 15th. In inland areas nationwide, showers accompanied by gusts and thunder and lightning will occur from daytime on the 15th to early morning the next day, and from daytime to nighttime on the 16th.
From the 15th, atmospheric instability will intensify and the pressure system will stagnate, causing the movement speed of shower clouds to slow down. Accordingly, from daytime to nighttime on the 15th, very strong showers exceeding 50mm are predicted mainly in the eastern inland areas, and from early morning to daytime on the 16th, in the western inland areas.
Some areas are expected to receive rainfall exceeding 100mm. Additionally, very strong gusts with wind speeds around 70 km/h are expected in some locations. There is also a high possibility of hail in certain areas.
Expected rainfall until early morning on the 15th is 5-60mm in eastern Gyeonggi, inland and mountainous Gangwon, inland Chungcheong, inland Gyeongbuk, and Gyeongnam regions, and 5-30mm in the five western islands. Expected rainfall from daytime on the 15th to early morning on the 16th is 10-60mm in central inland, inland Jeonbuk, and Gyeongsang regions, with some places expected to exceed 100mm. Inland Jeonnam is predicted to receive 5-40mm.
Despite the showers, the heatwave will continue. With heatwave warnings issued nationwide, daytime temperatures are expected to remain above 32 degrees Celsius until the 16th. The apparent temperature will rise above 33 degrees Celsius due to high humidity. Tropical nights will also occur in some areas overnight.
On the 15th, the morning low temperatures by region are expected to be 23-26 degrees Celsius, and the daytime highs 28-33 degrees Celsius.

The KMA stated, “Temperatures may temporarily drop where showers fall, but will rise again after the rain stops, so the heatwave will persist for some time. During outdoor activities, people should drink plenty of water and avoid strenuous outdoor activities to prevent heat-related illnesses.”
