NgenBio Registers Patent for Personal Medical Information Provision System Using Blockchain
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Precision diagnostic platform company Ngenbio announced on the 14th that it has completed domestic patent registration for a personal medical information provision system using blockchain technology. The patent is titled ‘Personal Authority-Based Medical Information Provision System Using Blockchain’.
Ngenbio secured forgery prevention and data security for personal medical data and lifestyle habit data generated from various IoT devices based on patented technology utilizing blockchain. Through this, various personal data can be stored on a secure platform applied with blockchain technology, enabling transparent record management when using personal information.
An Ngenbio official stated, “Personal medical information is sensitive data that requires high reliability and security, and to utilize it, security must be ensured and transparency increased by using blockchain technology,” adding, “We will establish a foundation so that individuals can safely manage their information and utilize various health data solutions through Ngenbio’s platform.”
The company plans to apply this patented technology to a precision medical big data platform using blockchain. It will be used for developing data businesses that can integrate, analyze, and share various personal health information such as personal genomic data, healthcare data, microbiome data, and lifestyle habit data.
Kwangjoong Kim, head of Ngenbio’s corporate research institute, emphasized, “Based on the already established NGS precision diagnostic platform, we are accumulating various genomic and health data,” and added, “By building a reliable database and developing a secure data sharing platform, we will safely transfer, store, and manage health data to increase its value, optimize costs, and expand it into a health big data platform, which is the core foundation of precision medicine.”
