Gwangju Seo-gu Volunteer Center Holds Launch Ceremony for Integrated Volunteer Support Group
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Shin Dong-ho] The Gwangju Metropolitan City Seo-gu Volunteer Center (Director Jo Man-ho) announced on the 14th that it held the inauguration ceremony of the Integrated Volunteer Support Group for Disaster Sites and disaster safety education on the 12th at the Deulbul Hall on the 2nd floor of Seo-gu Office to prepare for large-scale disasters and calamities.
The 'Integrated Volunteer Support Group for Disaster Sites' was organized to establish an integrated support system in the event of a disaster and to efficiently carry out all volunteer activities such as recruiting, educating, and deploying volunteers.
Also, starting from the inauguration ceremony, it marked the beginning of full-scale activities by fostering professional volunteer personnel and establishing a cooperative system among volunteer organizations.
The inauguration ceremony was held orderly under social distancing measures, attended by Seo Dae-seok, Mayor of Seo-gu, Kim Tae-young, Chairman of Seo-gu Council, Yang Dong-hwan, Vice Chairman, presidents and officials of various volunteer organizations.
Mayor Seo Dae-seok said, "Since disasters and calamities can occur anytime, anywhere, and in any way, it is important to prepare thoroughly in advance. We have established an emergency response system of the Integrated Volunteer Support Group that is urgently needed at disaster sites," and added, "I ask for the active participation of volunteers and their safe activities."
Jo Man-ho, Director of Seo-gu Volunteer Center, stated, "We will do our best to ensure that rapid and systematic on-site support can be provided in the event of disasters and calamities through the operation of the Integrated Volunteer Support Group for Disaster Sites."
