Hwang Jae-eun Provincial Assembly Member, Complete Revision of Ordinances for Traffic Safety in Schools at All Levels
Implementation of Traffic Safety Project for Commuting Routes Outside School
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] At the 1st Education Committee meeting of the 387th Extraordinary Session held on the 13th, the "Ordinance for the Complete Revision of the Ordinance for Traffic Safety in Schools at All Levels in Gyeongsangnam-do," which was proposed by Provincial Assembly Member Hwang Jae-eun (Democratic Party, Proportional Representation), passed the standing committee review.
According to a recent internal investigation by the Provincial Office of Education, among the 505 elementary schools in the province, 249 schools (49%) have sidewalks and roadways that are not separated within child protection zones, indicating an urgent need for facility improvements to secure traffic safety on school commuting routes.
In response, Assembly Member Hwang originally expanded the scope of student traffic safety to include traffic safety outside of school.
Through this, the ordinance revision is expected to accelerate the promotion of projects to improve the traffic safety environment within child protection zones after the ordinance is amended.
