Gwangju Bank Implements Robotic Process Automation for 'Work Efficiency Improvement'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Gwangju Bank (President Song Jongwook) announced on the 13th that it has implemented automation for 100 tasks through ‘RPA (Robotic Process Automation)’ to improve work efficiency and focus on core tasks.
The RPA system is a program that automatically processes tasks by applying robot software with pre-set rules to repetitive and standardized simple tasks in a PC environment.
The RPA system was first introduced in January 2019, and during the first year, several briefings were held to inform employees about the RPA system and its implementation effects, securing IT development personnel to establish self-sustaining work support capabilities and focusing on task discovery.
From the second year, when the system stabilized under the direct supervision of Gwangju Bank President Song Jongwook, who personally oversaw the introduction and construction process for implementing work automation, the bank accelerated the expansion of RPA work support, achieving the application of the RPA system to 100 tasks.
Through this, tasks that employees regularly performed themselves, such as report writing or post-management, which consumed a lot of repetitive time in daily work, were replaced by the RPA system, greatly improving work efficiency.
Gwangju Bank plans to continuously expand RPA-applied tasks to promote overall organizational work efficiency, supporting employees to focus on creative and qualitatively productive tasks.
President Song Jongwook of Gwangju Bank said, “We will focus on the continuous expansion and advancement of RPA tasks to enhance employees’ work efficiency and improve customer consultation quality. Gwangju Bank will strengthen its digital capabilities to overcome the regional limitations of local banks amid fierce competition in the financial sector, including the entry of fintech and big tech companies into the financial industry, and become a sustainable 100-year bank.”
Meanwhile, Gwangju Bank continues various activities for digital innovative finance.
In addition to implementing work automation through the RPA system, starting with the opening of the next-generation IT system in 2016, it became the first local bank to implement the PPR (Paperless Process Reengineering) system at all branch counters in 2018, replacing various application forms from paper documents to electronic documents.
It also introduced ‘Mobile Web Banking,’ which allows customers to easily and quickly subscribe to deposit and loan products simply by searching for ‘Gwangju Bank’ on a portal site without installing an app, and launched ‘KJ MyBot,’ a robo-advisor asset management service that provides services tailored to customers’ preferences through big data analysis, actively promoting the transition to a digital bank.
In particular, since introducing the ‘Customer Application Form Image Scan System’ in 2013 and building the BPR (Business Process Reengineering) system in 2015, it simplified tasks by concentrating branch post-management tasks at the head office.
