Gimhae City Signs Agreement with Foreign Communities for Joint Response to Infectious Disease Prevention and Disaster Situations

View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Gimhae City in Gyeongnam announced on the 12th that it signed an agreement with the local Uzbekistani community for joint response to infectious diseases and disaster situations and held a meeting.
This agreement was prepared to establish a solid cooperative relationship with foreign communities by country in order to respond more actively and promptly to infectious disease outbreaks and disaster situations.
Starting with the agreement with the Uzbekistani community on the 10th, agreements will be signed with a total of five countries including Vietnam, Indonesia, China, and Nepal by August, and will be expanded step by step thereafter.
According to the agreement, the city will play a role in establishing regular communication channels for detailed cooperation among the agreement parties by sharing safety, disaster, and living information, promoting foreigner social adaptation projects, and preparing support systems for foreigners in crisis.
The foreign communities will participate by establishing their own systems to actively cooperate with Gimhae City projects for foreign residents and fulfill social responsibilities.
Im Ju-taek, Director of the Citizen Welfare Bureau, said, "There were several critical moments related to COVID-19, but we were able to overcome them well thanks to the active cooperation of foreign residents," and added, "I ask that all Gimhae citizens continue to follow quarantine rules so that we can overcome difficult times well."

Meanwhile, as of 2020, the number of foreign residents in Gimhae City is 31,744, the largest number of foreigners residing in Gyeongnam Province.
