Olympic Host City Tokyo Nears 1,000 COVID-19 Cases... Highest in 58 Days

On the 10th, Tokyo reported 950 new COVID-19 cases, according to local public broadcaster NHK. This is 234 cases (32.7%) more than a week ago.
This is the highest number in 58 days since May 13 of this year, when a state of emergency was in effect and 1,010 new cases were recorded.
The daily number of cases in Tokyo has increased for 21 consecutive days from June 20 to the present, compared to the same day of the week a week ago.
The Japanese government will reimpose a state of emergency in Tokyo for six weeks from the 12th of this month to July 22.
