Deputy Prime Minister Hong Explains Digital Tax, IMF, and Climate Change Response
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] On the 9th (local time), Hong Nam-ki, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, met with Daniel Franco, Italy's Minister of Economy and Finance, ahead of the G20 Finance Ministers' Meeting to exchange views on major G20 issues.
Both countries agreed that their economic situations and policy response directions are similar, and decided to actively cooperate bilaterally and multilaterally in future COVID-19 responses.
Deputy Prime Minister Hong explained Korea's stance on major G20 issues such as the digital tax, support for low-income countries through the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Special Drawing Rights (SDR), and climate change response.
Minister Franco responded, "As the G20 chair country this year, we will strive to handle major issues in a reasonable direction reflecting each country's position," adding, "We will actively cooperate with Korea in that process."

Both countries confirmed that "the quarantine situation, economic conditions, and COVID-19 policy responses are similar," and stated that "they will promote the sharing of detailed policy response contents and policy experiences."
