Hyundai Motor Restructures China Organization... Determined to Overcome Crisis
[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] Hyundai Motor Group is making a major overhaul of its underperforming China organization to overcome the crisis.
According to industry sources on the 9th, Hyundai Motor and Kia recently finalized the China organization restructuring plan and decided to implement it starting from the 12th.
According to the restructuring plan, Beijing Hyundai and Dongfeng Yueda Kia, local subsidiaries responsible for production and sales in China, will be reorganized under the CEOs of Hyundai Motor and Kia respectively, transitioning to a CEO-centered management system for each company.
The existing China business was independently operated mainly by a China-dedicated organization·personnel, but this restructuring is interpreted as the headquarters directly managing and supporting the China business.
The research and development and product divisions, which are key to the China electrification strategy, will also transition to a responsibility system under the headquarters’ R&D division and product division. The plan is to accelerate the transformation into a provider of eco-friendly mobility solutions by expanding the China electrification product lineup.
