[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] Changwon City in Gyeongnam announced on the 9th that the analysis of the results of the RFID Pay-As-You-Throw pilot project for food waste showed a decrease in the amount of waste discharged and a reduction in processing costs.
Since July last year, the city introduced the 'RFID Pay-As-You-Throw pilot project' and installed 118 devices in 6 apartment complexes with 8,027 households across 5 districts in the city.
The RFID Pay-As-You-Throw system for food waste is a method where, after recognizing a card on the RFID device, the weight information of the food waste is transmitted to the Ministry of Environment's central system, applying the pay-as-you-throw system for food waste.
