Yeonggwang-gun Awarded 'Excellence Prize' in National Local Government Job Competition

[Yeonggwang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jeonseong] Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim Junsung) announced on the 8th that it received a prize of 70 million KRW along with an Excellence Award in the Job Disclosure System category of the 'National Local Government Regional Job Awards' hosted by the Ministry of Employment and Labor on the 6th.

The 'National Local Government Job Awards' is a comprehensive evaluation of job policies that has assessed and awarded the job creation performance of 243 local governments nationwide every year since 2012 in promoting regional job policies.

Despite worsening local employment conditions such as low birth rates and increased youth unemployment due to COVID-19, the county's employment rate rose by 1.3% from the previous year to 73.7%, and the number of regular workers increased by 200, showing overall improvement in employment indicators.

In particular, it received high praise for establishing a virtuous cycle of job creation by being the first nationwide to create a Youth Development Fund, operating the Youth Hope Stepping Stone Account, supporting Yeonggwang-type youth job incentives, and fostering the e-mobility industry as a future new growth engine.

Governor Kim Junsung said, “We plan to continue promoting cooperation policies among industry, academia, and government to create customized jobs by industry and class suited to various regional characteristics and to provide quality jobs.”
