47 Confirmed Cases in Group Infection at Hyundai Department Store Trade Center Branch
Temporary Closure Decided for July 7-8
[Asia Economy Reporter Jin-ho Kim] The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases from the cluster infection at Hyundai Department Store Trade Center Branch in Samseong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, has increased to 47.
According to Seoul City on the 6th, 33 additional people tested positive by 6 p.m. that day, bringing the total number of related confirmed cases to 47. At the Trade Center Branch, after two employees were first confirmed positive on the 4th, employees and acquaintances have been infected one after another.
As confirmed cases continued to rise, the Trade Center Branch decided to temporarily close on July 7-8 and required all employees to undergo COVID-19 testing. The Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters (CDSCH) sent a disaster text message that day, stating, "From June 26 to July 6, visitors to the Trade Center Branch are requested to get tested for COVID-19 at the nearest screening clinic."
