Son Heung-min Appointed as Honorary Ambassador for Korean Tourism
[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] Son Heung-min, a world-renowned football player active at Tottenham Hotspur in the English Premier League (EPL), is promoting Korean tourism worldwide.
The Korea Tourism Organization announced on the 6th that it has appointed Son Heung-min, who has global recognition, as an honorary ambassador for Korean tourism to secure a leading position in the international tourism market after COVID-19. The organization plans to produce various promotional content conveying the charm of Korea together with Son Heung-min.
The promotional content includes three advertisement videos and seven images. The theme is "Son Heung-min who resembles Korea, now find the similarities between Korea and you (This is my Korea, What’s yours?)." In the 1 minute 30 seconds promotional video, Son Heung-min will appear to convey the fast, passionate, and smart various charms of Korea. The content will be released worldwide mainly through digital media such as the Korea Tourism Organization’s YouTube and Facebook channels in September. It will also be posted on Son Heung-min’s personal social media accounts.

A representative from the Korea Tourism Organization said, "With Son Heung-min’s appointment as ambassador, we expect a significant effect in raising the brand awareness of Korean tourism in the global market, especially centered in Europe," adding, "The marketing effect will be considerable, especially reaching beyond the Hallyu fan base to those who had little interest in Korean culture."
