[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyewon] POSCO is establishing a 'Health Advisory Committee' to diagnose and improve the in-house health management system.
On the 5th, POSCO officially launched the Health Advisory Committee with the participation of external experts and in-house labor-management representatives, and held a kickoff meeting to discuss future operational plans, the company announced on the 6th.
The Health Advisory Committee consists of a total of eight members: four external experts and four in-house labor-management representatives. The external experts include Professor Kim Inhoe (Chairman) of Inha University Law School, Professor Kim Chinyeon of Yonsei University Graduate School of Public Health, Professor Jeong Jiyeon of Yongin University Department of Occupational Health and Environment, and Professor Kim Hyungryeol of Catholic University Graduate School of Public Health. The in-house labor-management representatives include POSCO Labor Union Senior Vice Chairman Jeong Suhwa, POSCO Labor-Management Council Worker Representative Kang Yonggu, Safety and Environment Headquarters Director Lee Siwoo, and Labor Cooperation Office Manager Kim Sunggi. The committee will operate until December of next year.
The Health Advisory Committee plans to appoint experts in each field such as work environment, risk management, and occupational health as advisory members to identify tasks and promote improvement activities in order to establish a more professional health management system.
Regular meetings will be held quarterly to provide advice on health issues and to develop various programs aimed at improving the health of both direct employees and subcontractor workers.
Chairman Kim said, "I highly appreciate that POSCO has created a platform to review and improve the internal health management system from the perspective of external experts to protect employees' health," adding, "We will do our best to ensure that improvements are properly made from the employees' standpoint through the operation of the committee."
