[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Amid recent personnel reshuffles at the Standing Committee level of the Workers' Party of Korea, the continued presence of Choe Ryong-hae, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Supreme People's Assembly, and Kim Deok-hoon, Premier of the Cabinet, has been confirmed.
On the 6th, the Korean Central News Agency reported, "Comrade Kim Deok-hoon, member of the Political Bureau Standing Committee and Premier of the Cabinet of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, inspected various sectors of the people's economy on site."
The agency stated that Premier Kim specifically reviewed the operations of the Ministry of Agriculture and the Meteorological and Hydrological Bureau to respond to disaster-related weather conditions and held a consultation meeting. At the meeting, the awakening, efforts, and practical capabilities of the workers regarding farming operations were emphasized.
By reporting on Premier Kim's inspection and identifying him as a member of the Party Political Bureau Standing Committee, it has become clearer that the Standing Committee member dismissed at the expanded Political Bureau meeting on the 29th of last month was Ri Pyong-chol, Vice Chairman of the Party Central Military Commission.
