The robots to be introduced include 2 disinfection robots and 6 quarantine guidance robots, which will be initially deployed at the arrival hall of Terminal 2 of Incheon Airport, with plans to consider expanding their introduction to Terminal 1 in the future.
The disinfection and quarantine guidance robots are designed to use 5G wireless communication to detect and relay quarantine events within the airport in real time. They feature autonomous driving, object detection, and automatic docking and charging technologies, enabling rapid and safe quarantine responses within the airport.
The disinfection robots will operate two units, one each on the east and west sides of the arrival hall in Terminal 2 of Incheon Airport. Using human-safe UV-C lamps, they automatically disinfect viruses on the arrival hall carpet and in the air along the passenger flow from the arrival gate to the quarantine area.
The quarantine guidance robots will operate six units in total, three each on the east and west sides of the arrival hall in Terminal 2. They autonomously navigate the arrival hall and provide quarantine guidance to those not complying with quarantine regulations.
They operate in two modes: a quarantine compliance guidance mode that recognizes passengers' fever status and mask-wearing compliance to guide violators, and a quarantine and disinfection information guidance mode that provides quarantine and disinfection information to passengers waiting in areas such as the quarantine zone.
In particular, in the quarantine compliance guidance mode, the quarantine guidance robots receive real-time arrival flight information and move to the relevant arrival gate before the aircraft arrives to provide quarantine guidance to arriving passengers.
