Safety and Health Grand Festival 'Industrial Safety and Health Emphasis Week' Event Kicks Off at KINTEX
The 54th Occupational Safety and Health Day ceremony was held on the 5th at KINTEX in Ilsan, Gyeonggi-do.

The Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency announced on the 5th that the commemorative ceremony for the "54th Industrial Safety and Health Day," established to encourage autonomous industrial accident prevention activities at workplaces and to raise nationwide safety awareness, will be held on the 5th at KINTEX in Ilsan, Gyeonggi Province.
About 50 representatives from labor, management, and government, including the Ministry of Employment and Labor, the Economic and Social Labor Council, the Federation of Korean Trade Unions, the Korea Employers Federation, and the Korea Federation of Small and Medium Business, participated in the ceremony to reaffirm their commitment to reducing industrial accident fatalities.
Following the ceremony, the "Industrial Safety and Health Emphasis Week" event will be held at KINTEX in Ilsan.
Under the theme "Safety to Protect Together, Rights for All to Enjoy," a variety of events will take place, including ?awards for contributors to industrial accident prevention, ?an international safety and health exhibition, ?a safety and health job fair, ?13 safety and health seminars, and ?12 presentations of excellent industrial accident prevention cases.
This emphasis week event will comply with COVID-19 prevention measures and will be conducted both online and offline to ensure public participation and interest are not restricted.
The exhibition, which was canceled last year due to COVID-19, will be held offline with measures strengthened beyond government quarantine guidelines.
Additionally, virtual reality (VR) technology will be used to allow indirect experience of workplace hazards, and various information related to new safety and health technologies and startups will be provided.
The safety and health job fair will be held online, where safety and health-related organizations and companies will conduct recruitment consultations and new hiring, providing various employment-related information to job seekers in the safety and health field.
Safety and health seminars and excellent case presentation contests will be broadcast live online, enabling easy participation in related events from anywhere.

At the ceremony, Minister of Employment and Labor An Kyung-duk presented government awards to 20 contributors to industrial accident prevention.
The Order of Industrial Service Merit, Bronze Tower, was awarded to Lee Jae-geun, Plant Manager of Namhae Chemical Co., Ltd., who has long experience in practical work and safety technology, holds safety-related qualifications and patents, and has published 13 books.
The Order of Industrial Service Merit, Silver Tower, was awarded to Deputy General Manager Jo Jung-woo of Hanjin Heavy Industries & Construction Co., Ltd. Shin Seocheon Thermal Power Electrical Engineering Division, who led accident prevention inside and outside the workplace by producing and installing on-site safety education experience centers and virtual experience education facilities tailored to plant processes. The Order of Industrial Service Merit, Stone Tower, was awarded to Kim Do-young, Team Leader at LG Household & Health Care Co., Ltd. Haitai HTB Iksan Plant, who introduced advanced overseas safety management techniques and systems such as the UK forklift safety management program and achieved the plant's "zero industrial accidents" performance while performing safety manager duties.
The Industrial (Geunjeong) Medal was awarded to Professor Park Dong-wook of Korea National Open University, who has conducted in-depth research and policy consultation in the field of industrial health; Baek Ji-sook, CEO of Woojin Plastic Co., Ltd., who achieved over 10 years of accident-free operation through improving the working environment as a female entrepreneur; and Jeong Bong-sik, Team Leader of Cosmo Advanced Materials Co., Ltd., who achieved 12 years and 7 months of accident-free operation through labor-management cooperation by inducing worker participation with monthly themed safety activities.

Minister An Kyung-duk said, "I express my gratitude to the contributors to industrial accident prevention who have done their best to ensure safety at industrial sites nationwide," and added, "With the launch of the Industrial Safety and Health Headquarters on the 1st, we will make every effort as the control tower for industrial safety and health to reduce industrial accident fatalities and create safer workplaces."
