Park Beom-gye "Joint Inspection Results on Prosecutor Investigation Practices... Announcement in July"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Daehyun] Park Beom-gye, Minister of Justice, announced that the joint inspection results conducted by the Ministry of Justice and the Supreme Prosecutors' Office will be announced in July.
On the morning of the 2nd, Minister Park, while arriving at the Government Gwacheon Complex of the Ministry of Justice, responded to reporters' questions about the timing of the inspection results announcement by saying, "The inspection results are almost finalized. Since a large-scale personnel reshuffle has taken place, the announcement will be made once things settle down," adding, "It will be announced in July."
Earlier, since the end of March, the Ministry of Justice and the Supreme Prosecutors' Office have been conducting a joint inspection analyzing investigation cases including the former Prime Minister Han Myeong-sook's case of witness tampering, establishing the concepts of 'successful direct investigations and failed direct investigations,' and preparing institutional improvement plans.
Additionally, Minister Park stated that he is "closely monitoring" the case of Prosecutor A from the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office, who is under police investigation for allegedly receiving bribes from fisheries businessman Kim (43) along with current and former journalists. Regarding disciplinary action, he said, "The police are currently investigating."
