Sealy Bed, No.1 in U.S. Mattress Market Share in 2020
Leading the Industry for 38 Years, Domestic Supply Products Manufactured at Sealy Korea Yeoju Factory
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jong-hwa] Sealy Mattress has been confirmed as the mattress brand most loved by consumers in the United States, the birthplace of mattresses.
According to a survey by Furniture Today, a well-known American furniture magazine, Sealy Mattress recorded sales of $1.646 billion in 2020, a 14.6% increase compared to the previous year, ranking first among the top 15 mattress manufacturers in the U.S. for the second consecutive year following 2019.
Sealy Mattress also held the number one position for 36 consecutive years from 1976, when Furniture Today began its survey, until 2011. Including the recent two years, it has maintained the largest market share in the U.S. market for a total of 38 years, confirming with data that it is the mattress brand most loved by consumers in the U.S. market.
Since its establishment in 1976, Furniture Today has conducted annual surveys targeting U.S. bedding manufacturers, suppliers, and related parties, and has announced rankings based on comprehensive reviews of public company reports and performance evaluation analysis reports of privately owned bedding manufacturers.
Celebrating its 140th anniversary this year, Sealy Mattress has been loved worldwide for its excellent support based on the ‘Posturepedic’ technology developed in collaboration with orthopedic specialists in 1950, the world’s first of its kind. ‘Posturepedic’ is a compound word combining ‘Posture’ and ‘Orthopedic,’ and is Sealy’s unique orthopedic spring technology that effectively eliminates pressure points that hinder blood circulation and helps comfortable sleep by realigning the skeleton overnight.
Sealy Korea established a large-scale manufacturing plant in Yeoju, Gyeonggi Province in 2016, an unusual move for a foreign company, producing premium lines such as ‘Exquisite,’ the world’s first titanium spring mattress-based motion bed ‘Flex series,’ and newly launched mattresses for domestic sales and export including ‘Sealy No.140’ and ‘Chante’ to commemorate its 140th anniversary this February. It actively engages in activities for coexistence with the local community, contributing to job creation as well as serving as an export hub for Asian countries.
