16800 Volunteers Participate at Seoul COVID-19 Vaccination Centers
Citizens Express Gratitude to Volunteers Supporting Vaccination Efforts... Writing and Delivering Letters On-site
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Volunteer Center announced on the 2nd that since April, more than 16,814 citizens have participated in volunteer activities at COVID-19 vaccination centers throughout Seoul.
The citizens who volunteered have contributed not only by providing administrative support such as guiding procedures and routes, assisting with transportation, and helping fill out preliminary examination forms, but also by easing the tension of visitors and creating a bright atmosphere through kind and skilled service. There have been heartwarming cases where visitors, moved by the volunteers' consideration, wrote letters and gave gifts in return.
The volunteers unanimously said that the most rewarding moment is "when they feel they are helping citizens," and that the citizens' words of encouragement and support such as "Thank you" and "Good job" give them great strength.
A small act of consideration from volunteers and a single word of thanks from citizens exert a small but significant power. Especially in a situation where meetings and conversations with strangers have decreased due to COVID-19, social interaction among citizens has become a spark that melts frozen hearts and a social hope vaccine that encourages renewed strength to overcome COVID-19.
The Seoul Volunteer Center has launched an SNS certification campaign titled "Volunteers are the Citizens' Hope Vaccine" starting June 21 to create an online space where people can encourage and express gratitude to each other for their efforts to overcome COVID-19, even if they cannot meet in person.
