[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyun-jung] Im Kwang-hyun, Head of Seoul Regional Tax Office, has been appointed as the next Deputy Commissioner of the National Tax Service. Im Seong-bin, Head of Busan Regional Tax Office, has moved to the Seoul Regional Tax Office, while Kim Jae-cheol, Director of Investigation Bureau 3 at Seoul Regional Tax Office, and Kim Chang-ji, Head of Central Regional Tax Office, have been appointed as heads of the Central and Busan Regional Tax Offices, respectively.
The National Tax Service announced on the 1st, "We will conduct regular personnel appointments for senior positions at levels A and B effective from the 5th to promptly fill vacancies caused by early retirements earlier this month," stating this decision.
Im Kwang-hyun, the next Deputy Commissioner of the National Tax Service, entered public service in 1995 through the 38th Administrative Examination. He has served as Director of the Investigation Bureau at the National Tax Service, Director of Investigation Bureau 1 at Seoul Regional Tax Office, and Director of Investigation Bureau 1 at Central Regional Tax Office. While serving as Head of Seoul Regional Tax Office, he actively supported tax administration during the COVID-19 crisis, contributing to the revitalization of the national economy, and strictly conducted tax investigations against tax evasion acts that undermine a fair society, enhancing tax fairness.
Im Seong-bin, the next Head of Seoul Regional Tax Office, passed the 37th Administrative Examination in 1994 and has held positions such as Head of Busan Regional Tax Office, Director of Corporate Taxation at the National Tax Service, and Director of Investigation Bureau 4 at Seoul Regional Tax Office. While serving as Head of Busan Regional Tax Office, he ensured stable procurement of national fiscal needs through taxpayer-tailored support for sincere tax payment and promoted active tax administration to revitalize the regional economy. He also strictly conducted tax investigations against unfair actors such as business operators infringing on people's livelihoods and those disrupting tax law order.
Kim Jae-cheol, Director of Investigation Bureau 3 at Seoul Regional Tax Office, has been appointed as the next Head of Central Regional Tax Office. He entered public service in 1986 through a special recruitment at grade 8 and has held key positions including spokesperson for the National Tax Service. During his tenure as Director of Investigation Bureau 3 at Seoul Regional Tax Office, he proactively analyzed new types of tax evasion and developed preemptive countermeasures, strictly responding to sophisticated real estate tax evasion. He also developed new taxation logic against illegal high-value inheritance and gift activities, significantly contributing to preventing the inheritance of wealth without taxation.
Kim Chang-gi, the next Head of Central Regional Tax Office, passed the 37th Administrative Examination in 1994 and has served in key positions including Head of Central Regional Tax Office, Director of Individual Taxation at the National Tax Service, and Auditor. While serving as Head of Central Regional Tax Office, he expanded the provision of reporting assistance materials for new industries and vulnerable sectors, greatly contributing to stable revenue budget procurement through demand-oriented support for sincere reporting. He also took a firm and resolute stance against unfair tax evasion actors such as intentional and malicious tax delinquents, leading the establishment of tax justice.
