Lee Jae-myung: "Launch of Autonomous Police to Ensure Safety of 13.8 Million Gyeonggi Residents"
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Lee Jae-myung, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, did not hide his expectations as the autonomous police responsible for the safety of 13.8 million Gyeonggi residents was launched.
On the 30th, Governor Lee introduced on Facebook, "The Gyeonggi Provincial Autonomous Police Committee was launched (on the 30th), and now the security welfare of Gyeonggi Province will be carried out according to the local perspective and come closer to the lives of residents."
He continued, "Safety is the most basic human need and the minimum condition of our daily life," emphasizing, "In a country where security is not maintained, citizens cannot help but feel anxious and it is difficult to have a sense of happiness."
Furthermore, he said, "Although Korea's security has been at a world-class level, more delicate services have become possible with the introduction of the autonomous police system," adding, "Unlike other local governments, Gyeonggi Province will have two committees, one for the South and one for the North."
In particular, he promised, "With a population of over 13.8 million, which is close to 1.5 times that of Seoul and the largest scale in the country, security demands are inevitably high. Through the two committees, we will fully respond to this and ensure that no region is neglected and that the safety of all residents is thoroughly secured."
