Assemblyman Lee Byung-hoon Secures 2.6 Billion KRW in Special Grants to Boost Local Issue Resolution
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Congressman Lee Byung-hoon (Democratic Party of Korea·Gwangju Dong-gu Nam-gu Eul) announced on the 30th that he secured 2.6 billion KRW in special grants from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
The long-standing resident priority projects in Dong-gu and Nam-gu, including the construction of the Dong-gu Complex Library, the creation of an urban regeneration New Deal hub space in Bangnim 2-dong, and the road expansion and structure reinforcement project for the section from Yangnimgyo to Seoseokgyo, will gain momentum.
The "Dong-gu Complex Public Library Construction" project aims to bridge the information gap between the downtown area and newly developed regions and to expand relatively insufficient public library facilities, as large-scale apartment complexes have been occupied and the population has increased in the Inam-dong area of Dong-gu.
Local residents have been requesting the construction of a library for youth use for several years, but due to budget shortages, the project could not be implemented until now. The securing of this special grant has given new impetus to the project.
Dong-gu estimates that about 32,000 local residents will be able to use the Dong-gu Complex Public Library.
The Bangnim 2-dong "Urban Regeneration New Deal Hub Space Creation" project involves establishing "Eoullim Center" and "Senior Startup Center" as hub spaces to promote village projects created by residents themselves, such as "home repair," "colorful village making," and "urban regeneration field support center."
This area is a low-rise, aging housing cluster with sloped alleys and inconvenient pedestrian roads, where residents have continuously voiced complaints about poor residential environments.
Congressman Lee has held multiple meetings with residents and studied solutions. With the secured budget, it is now possible to establish a field-centered support system that allows continuous opinion gathering and resident participation in urban regeneration projects.
The "Yangnimgyo to Seoseokgyo Section Expansion Structure Repair and Reinforcement" project is aimed at urgently repairing and reinforcing the expansion structures of the road along the Gwangju Stream in the relevant section, as a detailed inspection revealed severe damage such as deterioration, cracks, and breakage due to aging.
