View original image[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] The support of tablet PCs in the Wando area by Kim Bong-jin, chairman of Woowa Brothers Corp., the operator of Baedal Minjok, is drawing attention as it extends to out-of-school youth.
According to Wando County on the 30th, out of the 1,838 tablet PCs supported by Chairman Kim Bong-jin, 10 were delivered to out-of-school youth preparing for the qualification exam and returning to school.
Kim Bong-jin, who is from Wando County, donated tablet PCs worth 1.67 billion KRW to the Jangbogo Scholarship Foundation (Chairman Shin Woo-cheol) on the 31st of last month for all 1,828 middle and high school students in the Wando area.
Chairman Kim Bong-jin said, “I thought about doing something meaningful for my hometown Wando, creating a good environment for students to study, and hoped they would grow into excellent talents to contribute to the development of Wando, so I decided to gift the tablet PCs.”
The donation amount by Chairman Kim Bong-jin is the largest since the establishment of the Jangbogo Scholarship Foundation.
Since founding Baedal Minjok in 2010, Kim Bong-jin has been recognized for raising the pride and status of Wando people, including becoming an official member of 'The Giving Pledge,' a global donation club that requires members to donate more than half of their assets, which exceed 1 billion USD.
