GH Collaborates to Establish 'Hakon Station' on Shinan-San Line Double Track Electric Railway
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Corporation (GH) is joining forces with Gwangmyeong City and others to establish a new Hakon Station on the Sinansan Line double-track railway.
On the 29th, GH announced on the 30th that it signed a business agreement with Gwangmyeong City, Korea Rail Network Authority, Next Train, Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH), and Gwangmyeong Cultural Complex PFV Co., Ltd. to establish the new "Hakon Station" (tentative name) within the Gwangmyeong Hakon Public Housing District.
With the addition of Hakon Station between Gwangmyeong Station and Siheung City Hall Station on the Sinansan Line double-track railway, the travel time from Siheung City Hall Station to Yeouido will be drastically reduced from 53 minutes to 22 minutes (express train basis), significantly improving accessibility to Seoul.
According to the agreement, the construction costs of the station will be shared by GH, LH, and the Gwangmyeong Cultural Tourism Complex PFV project operators, who are the project implementers of the "Gwangmyeong-Siheung Technovalley" project.
The project implementation will be handled by Next Train Co., Ltd., the private investor of the Sinansan Line double-track railway, while the Korea Rail Network Authority will manage the project.
The Gwangmyeong Hakon District, scheduled for completion by the end of 2026, is located 16 km from central Seoul and about 5 km from the Seoul border. The area boasts excellent transportation infrastructure with the Gwangmyeong Comprehensive Terminal and KTX Gwangmyeong Station within the Gwangmyeong Station area housing development district nearby.
