352 New COVID-19 Cases in Seoul by 6 PM... Largest Number This Year
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] As of 6 p.m. on the 29th, 352 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed in Seoul. This is the highest daily number of cases this year and the largest since December 31 of last year, when 358 cases were reported.
According to Seoul City on the same day, the number is more than double the 173 cases reported at the same time the previous day and 135 more than the 217 cases reported a week ago (on the 22nd). The total daily confirmed cases were 205 on the 28th and 236 on the 22nd.
Seoul's daily confirmed cases surged to the 500s at the end of last year but had maintained a range of 100 to 200 cases this year. However, on this day, the number unusually exceeded the 300 mark.
The increase in 'cases under investigation for infection routes,' where the source of infection is unknown, led to the surge in confirmed cases. The number of cases classified as under investigation rose significantly from 63 on the 28th to 173 on this day. There were 120 cases involving contact with other confirmed patients and 27 cases involving contact with confirmed patients from other cities or provinces.
