Minister Jeong Eui-yong Cancels National Assembly Schedule Due to Contact with Confirmed COVID-19 Case
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo In-ho] Foreign Minister Chung Eui-yong canceled his schedule and entered self-quarantine after a COVID-19 case was confirmed on the plane he boarded upon returning from a Southeast Asia tour last week.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the 29th, Minister Chung, who returned from a tour of three Southeast Asian countries and arrived in Indonesia on the 26th, was notified by health authorities the day before that he was subject to self-quarantine due to a confirmed COVID-19 case among passengers on his return flight.
The delegation, including Minister Chung who had completed COVID-19 vaccination, all tested negative in the PCR tests conducted immediately after returning.
Minister Chung had originally planned to attend the National Assembly Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee plenary session that morning and carry out his duties as usual, but all such plans were canceled due to self-quarantine.
An official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated, “Following the notification from health authorities, Minister Chung canceled his scheduled National Assembly appointments for today and will work from home under self-quarantine for the period designated by the health authorities in accordance with relevant regulations.”

Minister Chung is reported to be required to self-quarantine until the 10th of next month, which marks two weeks from the 26th when he boarded the plane with the confirmed case.
