Mayor Yoo Deok-yeol of Dongdaemun-gu and New Public Officials Create a Forum for Integrity and Communication Through World Stories
Yoo Deok-yeol, Mayor of Dongdaemun District, is having a conversation with seven new public officials of Dongdaemun District.
View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor You Deok-yeol) held a communication event titled "World Stories with the Mayor" on the afternoon of the 25th to improve organizational culture and spread a culture of integrity.
The district is implementing "World Stories with the Executives," a platform where executives and employees, as well as employees among themselves, can communicate, instead of burdensome events like ceremonies or meetings, to spread a culture of integrity within the organization in an open manner. Following Deputy Mayor Choi Hong-yeon, Mayor You Deok-yeol was invited as the second mentor.
On this day, Mayor You Deok-yeol of Dongdaemun-gu and seven rookie public officials gathered in one place for an informal and sincere conversation. The rookie officials freely discussed topics such as their dreams before entering public service and their expectations for their public service careers.
Additionally, they explored ways to create a vibrant organizational culture through communication and consideration from the perspective of the younger generation.
In response to a rookie participant's question, "What is the driving force that makes the mayor work passionately?" Mayor You Deok-yeol answered, "The greatest source of strength that enables me to serve residents is the sense of accomplishment achieved when I am proactive and do my best in everything," fostering mutual understanding.
Dongdaemun-gu plans to hold another session of "World Stories with the Mayor" with rookie employees on July 1st, marking the third anniversary of the 7th local government administration.
Mayor You Deok-yeol of Dongdaemun-gu stated, "I hope the rookie public officials who have connected with Dongdaemun-gu will become honest public servants who do not lose their initial mindset and sincerity," and added, "We will continue to create opportunities for communication with employees to build an honest and flexible organizational culture."
Meanwhile, Dongdaemun-gu has established the 2021 Anti-Corruption Integrity Policy Implementation Plan to leap to the top integrity grade and is operating the Integrity Innovation Committee.

In addition, the district is making various efforts for integrity, such as conducting ongoing monitoring using the Cheongbaek-e system to prevent corruption risks in advance and operating the Integrity Love Club, composed of employees interested in sharing a culture of integrity.
