Chairman Choi refrained from commenting on questions related to his political moves, including running for the presidential election, stating that he would take time to reflect on his role.
On the morning of the same day, Chairman Choi told reporters on his way to the Board of Audit and Inspection, "I expressed my intention to resign to the President because I believe it is inappropriate to continue serving as Chairman of the Board of Audit and Inspection."
Chairman Choi said, "I feel sorry to the people, the appointing authority, and the members of the Board of Audit and Inspection for not being able to complete my term as Chairman."
Chairman Choi said, "I am well aware of the expectations and concerns of the people regarding me. I plan to take time to reflect on what role I should play for the future of our Republic of Korea after stepping down from the position of Chairman of the Board of Audit and Inspection."
Although Chairman Choi is mentioned as a presidential candidate from the opposition, he refrained from commenting on his future moves after expressing his intention to resign. Regarding his intention to run for president, Chairman Choi said, "It is not appropriate to speak about it at the (announcement) of resignation, and there will be opportunities to talk about it gradually."
It is known that Chairman Choi conveyed his intention to resign through Secretary Yoo Young-min on the same day.

Regarding the reason for his resignation, Chairman Choi said, "Considering issues such as the political neutrality of the Board of Audit and Inspection, I judged that it is inappropriate to continue serving as Chairman of the Board of Audit and Inspection. Chairman Choi does not plan to hold a separate farewell ceremony.
