He compared former Prosecutor General Yoon to a 'new product' and said that if there are flaws during the verification process, it could be 'returned.'
On the 25th, Hong appeared on CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show' and, when asked about former Prosecutor General Yoon, stated, "The fact that a person who symbolized the law is surrounded by about 20 allegations or scandals even before appearing is itself a problem."
Hong then referred to former Prosecutor General Yoon's so-called 'X-file,' saying, "When you buy a new product and it is delivered, you inspect it at home, and if there are defects, you return it," adding, "If it is delivered to your home and upon direct inspection you find 'this has defects and won't do,' returning it is the so-called national verification process." He likened former Prosecutor General Yoon, who can be seen as a political newcomer, to a 'new product,' and viewed the possibility of the public withdrawing support during the verification process as a 'return.'
When the host asked, "Do you think the possibility of return is high?" Hong replied, "That's difficult for me to say," adding, "He hasn't even appeared yet. The delivery order hasn't even been made."
Hong also emphasized the 'qualification verification' of former Prosecutor General Yoon. He said, "He only handled prosecutorial affairs, which account for less than 1% of the president's duties," and added, "Whether he has the qualifications and abilities to oversee and govern the entire state affairs is something that must also go through verification."
Regarding the possibility of former Prosecutor General Yoon joining the People Power Party, Hong said, "He is someone who may or may not join our party," and added, "Probably some time will be needed."
