Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to Hold the 2nd Future Cultural Policy Council on the 25th
[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced that it will hold the "2nd Future Cultural Policy Council" at 2 p.m. on the 25th at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Seoul.
This council was organized to predict future policy demands in response to social and technological changes and to discuss the role and direction of future culture.
Professor Woontak Woo from KAIST will present on the current status of the extended virtual world (Metaverse) and its potential applications in the cultural industry. Gayoung Noh, author of the "Media Trend Book," will talk about the restructuring of Internet video services (OTT) and the expansion of content in the era of fragmented tastes. Kwangseop Shin, Manager at Epic Games Korea, and Taehun Park, CEO of Watcha, will review industry operational cases related to the previous presentations and engage in discussions with council members.
The future cultural policy prospects and agendas discussed by issue at the council will be compiled into a policy report and posted on the websites of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism or the Korea Culture and Tourism Institute. The council will continue its meetings six times from May to October.

First Vice Minister Youngwoo Oh of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said, "Although discussions on virtual digital spaces are expanding, success cannot be achieved without content to fill those spaces," adding, "Content with infinite possibilities evolves more diversely through technological advancements, and intangible values such as stories, imagination, dreams, and emotions will become sources of new value creation." He emphasized, "As the importance of content grows day by day, inter-ministerial cooperation is necessary to establish a structure where technology and creative foundations coexist and thrive together."
